1. Introduction
Ridercom ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo (if available). We use this to create and manage your Ridercom account.
Profile Information: You may update your display name and profile photo within the App. This information is visible to other users in voice channels you join.
Channel Activity: We store information about voice channels you create or join, including channel names, codes, participant lists, and timestamps. This data is used to provide the service functionality.
Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and improving the service.
Location Data (Follow Me feature): When you choose to use the Follow Me feature, Ridercom accesses your device's GPS location to share your real-time position with riders who follow you. This includes your latitude, longitude, heading, speed, battery level, and signal strength. Location data is transmitted in real time via Firebase Realtime Database and is automatically deleted when you stop sharing or close the app. We do not store any location history. Location access requires your explicit permission and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
Background Location: For reliable location sharing during rides, Ridercom may request "Always" location permission. This allows location updates to continue when the app is in the background. On Android, a persistent notification is shown during background sharing. On iOS, the system location indicator appears. You can disable background location access at any time in your device settings.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Voice data: We do not record, store, or process any voice audio from channels. Voice communication is transmitted in real time via Agora's infrastructure and is not stored.
- Persistent location data: We do not store location history. Location data is only transmitted in real time while you are actively sharing via Follow Me and is deleted automatically when you stop sharing.
- Contacts: We do not access your phone contacts.
- Messages: There is no text messaging in the App.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App.
- Create and manage your user account.
- Display your name and profile to other participants in voice channels.
- Track channel membership and participant status (active, muted).
- Enable the auto-rejoin feature when you reopen the App.
- Share your live location with your followers when you use the Follow Me feature.
- Display your route trail, speed, battery level, and signal strength to your followers during active sharing.
- Communicate with you about service-related matters.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): For authentication, cloud database (Firestore), and hosting. Firebase's privacy policy applies to data stored in their infrastructure.
- Agora: For real-time voice communication. Agora processes voice data in transit but does not store it. Agora's privacy policy applies to their processing of voice data.
- Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In: For authentication only. We receive limited profile information as described above.
- Firebase Realtime Database: For temporary real-time location sharing in the Follow Me feature. Location data is automatically removed when sharing stops.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your account and channel data is stored securely in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
7. Data Retention
- Account data is retained as long as your account is active.
- Channel data (participant lists, activity timestamps) is updated in real time and reflects the current state of each channel.
- Recent channels history is stored per user for convenience and can be deleted by the user at any time.
When you delete your account, all associated personal data is removed. See our Data Deletion Policy for details.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Update your profile information (name, photo) at any time within the App.
- Delete your account and all associated data.
- Withdraw consent by discontinuing use of the App.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
